Family of Origin and Attachment
Reconnect to others. Reconnect to yourself.
Relationships are one of the best & hardest parts of life.
Children who are shown love, acceptance, and safety, are more likely to develop a strong sense of self, strong attachments and bonds, healthy ways of experiencing and processing emotions, and getting their needs met in a positive manner. But if love, acceptance, and safety are in short supply, a child must adapt to their dysfunctional environment and may develop maladaptive coping mechanisms that follow them into adulthood .
Most families will have some negative aspects as well as positive ones, and any and all family dynamics will have some impact on a person's adult life.

Our experienced therapists are here to help.
At Highland Village Counseling, we aim to work alongside you to identify childhood wounds that stem from family of origin issues. Identifying core issues stemming from unmet needs in childhood greatly impact relationships in adulthood. Our therapists strive to promote health and healing, not only in your relationships, but more importantly with your relationship with self.

Could enjoy the life you’ve built
We spend so much time and energy building big lives and then struggle to be present enough to enjoy it. What if you could look around and feel truly satisfied with what you’ve built?
Related to yourself and others differently
So much of our pain and suffering comes from how we relate to ourselves and others. You can learn new ways to relate and feel peace in all of your relationships.
